photoblog image Wheres the ball?

Wheres the ball?

I was taking some pics of a football match to the right of this one, but this looked more appealing.

BTW I'm still in Boneo:)

Wow! I really like this...
Awesome illustrative quality.
Fantastic. The mood is spooky somehow but the kid with the ball makes it all seem ok again. I really like this one and it's going to the likeys.
Nigel Clack: Thanks Mary, it is kinda weird being nice and spooky at the same time.

The old rule-of-thirds is telling me not to like the composition but I do like it, so forget the rule book! Nice work.
Nigel Clack: Cheers John, I know what you mean, I took this 3 years ago and just wanted to capture the atmosphere, it was a grab shot really. Looking at it now I think I would compose it as anniedog suggests and move the horizon to the upper third.
Love the atmosphere of this one. (:o)

This is great Nigel. I'd probably chop about a third of the grass off, but it's really atmospheric as it is.
Nigel Clack: Cheers Steve, I included the grass to show the shadows as it was early morning.
Brilliant stuff!

Don't know why, but it reminded me of old war movies. Just the atmosphere that it creates I think. Like the boy with the ball.

Superb picture.
Quite a few of the folks look like "sleepwalkers"...just like those above-ground folks in H.G.Wells' Time Machine.
There's quite an eerie feel to this shot and I'm liking it.

Great shot with an unsettling atmosphere. Who would have thought that a football game could be made to look so menacing? They look like extras from some alien/zombie movie. I don't agree with the comment about cropping the grass - I think this gives the picture its edge - the distance between the figures and the viewer. In fact I would have been tempted to include more grass and chop off the top bit with the sky and telephone wires to give an even more unsettling atmosphere. Well done.
Ingrid
Nigel Clack: Thanks Ingrid, I included the grass because of the shadows, I didnt even think about the pilons in the background, I agree they would be better out of the pic. I will revisit the original and see what can be done, I took it quite a while ago.

Wow. This is such a great shot. Well seen.
It's one of those shots where you can look at it for ages to see what each person is up to.
One thing I must ask - why is there a dead horse on the pitch?
Nigel Clack: It's a large black sheep actuallywink
Cheers for poppin in.
