photoblog image Green Day

Green Day

I wasn't sure whether to post this, I know it has various green tones, but not sure if you holds my attention enough? I have tried cropping off the left and top thirds which I think improve it slightly, but this one is uncropped. Thoughts?

How could you go wrong with this, Nigel! Greens on green...one of the most soothing, healing colors ever!
Nigel Clack: Hope you feel better thenwink

It's very nice, Nigel. I was thinking if you crop the bottom part off to just below the tree, it may bring the focus up to the top of the picture.
Just a thought. I do love the greens and blues...beautiful feel to it.
Nigel Clack: Thanks Kay, I forgot to mention that the Levada (water channel) is the main subject, so I wouldn't chop it offsmile

Works for me, Nigel. I like the slight S shape of the the path and the ditch. The brown leaves makes me think that autumn will soon be here.. my favourite season.
Nigel Clack: Cheers Alan, this is in Madeira, I dont think they have much of an autumn. It was last month.

i think this is lovely nigel. my favourite bit is at the very end, before the path turns. i love how the trees disappear into the mist and the light - it looks very magical.
Nigel Clack: Thanks Eliza

I think I might be tempted to crop top a bit and left a bit less...whatever, you've got a quality image to work with here, Nigel.
Nigel Clack: Ta for that

For me the interest of the photo is to the right hand side - I don't think the left third is adding anything to the picture. I agree with your analysis - it gives a much tighter composition. You could even try making it square, but then I'm into square at the moment and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea! Amazing what a bit of cropping will do. BTW I like the photo!
Ingrid
Nigel Clack: Cheers Ingrid, I will give the square a go too.

Looks good to me the fact the eye is lead in to the photo by the path.If you had cropped the bottom of this would be less effective
Nigel Clack: I was thinking of cropping top and left, as the Levada is the main subject.
My attention went straight to the right handside of the shot Nigel so maybe a bit of cropping would work.
Nigel Clack: Thats good thanks Bernie
I think you got it about right..I would have changed the hue slightly away from the green(but thats me) Nice one Nigel.
Looks like a mystic forest.

Perhabs better in B/W but nice to me.
yes Nigel i would have cropped the top third too m8, still a great perspective thoughsmile
I think you could do all sorts of crops with this. The right side of the picture is the strongest part. I had a play with a screen capture and in the end decide that what it needs is a figure in the distance maybe.
what a pretty shot--lots of detail but I like the way it seems hazy off in the distance with the clear crisp greens in the foreground. Really nice!
I like it very much, the greentones are so nice and the composition is good too !!

I can''t imagine why you wouldn't ppost this I think its wonderful and wouldn't change it at all.
Somehow this looks very special. The green tones are amazing. I love the greenish fog in the back too. Cropping might help, though I'm not sure which part to crop away.
Thanks for posting it.
